Do you even buy what you are making
Ever see something like this when you try to take the price tag off something you just bought to put on display? Ever try to open a product you just purchased to find the bag does not reseal or the box rips apart in your hands so it's tabs are useless?
I took the above picture after purchasing a new, expensive, colorfully glazed pot for a cactus in my living room. I was excited! then I took the price tag off and low and behold it ripped leaving some parts cemented with the force of god to the pot. Now, it I was trying to take the price tag off a box of crackers, I could see not caring if the tag ripped, but this is clearly a product who's sole purpose is to be pretty.
At this point this might just sound like a rant. And to some extent it is. I was really frustrated, but after I calmed down I realized that this event was so much more telling then just a ripped tag. When something like this consistently happens, it shows a serious problem.
At ACME glazed pots, there is a CEO and a whole host of people who's only job is to make the company better. There are also a bunch of marketing people who's job it is to sell the product. There are also a bunch of art people who's job it is to make a beautiful product. and clearly none of them actually buy their own product!!! because if they were buying there product, they would say "Shit! Why are we using tags that rip when you try to take the off". So why am I buying a product that the own employees are not even buying!
Ever open a box of Taste of Thia rice noodles? I have never in my life bought a box of these rice noodles and not had the box rip in half in my hand so it can never re-close. The noodles are great, but clearly the CEO at the company has ever actually bought a box of the noodles. Because if they had, they would walk into work the next day and say "Hey, what are we doing with these boxes, lets fix this!"
In the end, this may not be super important. I probably will keep buying rice noodles in terrible boxes. But what just blows my mind is that nobody at these companies is buying their own product. What does that say about the products, companies, or lazyness of the people.
